Unlike traditional dog training or private in-person dog training where you need to be in person and near the dog trainer you want to work with, all you need for virtual dog training is a computer and a webcam!
Often, when I promote online dog training (i.e., remote or virtual dog training sessions), many dog guardians are reluctant. Some of their reasons are associated with a lack of understanding or doubt that Zoom training can actually work. However, this belief is contrary to the facts! Virtual dog training is an excellent and effective way to get help for your dog no matter where you are in the world. Virtual dog training will provide the support you need to communicate, train, and work with your dog regardless of location or even where you are in your dog training journey. Virtual dog training is particularly effective in the first few months with a new puppy, an adolescent dog, a new rescue, or working with fear, aggression, and reactivity.
If you are still on the fence about remote dog training, are interested in learning more, or we sparked your interest, keep reading to know all the benefits of remote dog training sessions!
Since the pandemic, working remotely has become more prevalent, and sadly, so has problematic behavior. Many of my clients have had more time in the past few years to see their dogs (who they look at like children) and the struggles their dogs are going through. Pet parents have felt that with all this free time at home, there is no better time to learn about dog psychology and what can help our dogs with their anxiety and unwanted behaviors.
Many dog trainers, including myself, were already successfully doing remote training before the pandemic. Now our clients are able to benefit from these options!
Social media has brought dog parents from all over the world to Underdogs Long Beach for dog training. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to evidence-based dog training due to geographical restraints, so virtual training sessions are a lifesaver.
It’s amazing! Online training has set many dog owners up to train with force-free dog trainers that value education and dedicate much of their lives to education around animal behavior science.

We generally recommend virtual training for those that are looking for the following assistance with their dogs:
Although this list is not exhaustive for all the benefits of remote dog training, it is an excellent start! In short, virtual training sessions are a convenient way to train and work with your dog regardless of your geographical location. Not only is it convenient, but it is also very effective.
